MARVIN BRADLEY HALL
(March 2, 1931 – January 13, 2010)
Marvin Bradley Hall, 78, of Elizabeth, Colorado, passed away January 13, 2010 at Skyridge Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Pulaski, Virginia, on March 2, 1931, Marvin (the eldest of five children) was the son of the now late Archie and Alpha (Cecil) Hall of Alexandria, Virginia. In the early 1940s the Hall family moved to Tennessee’s top-secret community of Oak Ridge (aka. “Atomic City”) where Marvin’s father worked covertly on the infamous Manhattan Project.
Graduating from Oak Ridge High School in 1950, Marvin later served two years in the United States Air Force achieving the level of Airman First Class. While in the Air Force he was trained and certified as an aircraft mechanic – attending the University of Southern California College of Aeronautics in Santa Maria, California.
In 1955 Marvin returned to Oak Ridge where he proposed to and later married his “girl-next-door” Nancy Rae Wells. In 1957 the couple moved to Washington, D.C. where Marvin was hired by Capitol Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. When the airline was acquired by United Airlines in 1961, Marvin then transferred to one of the carrier’s major hubs in San Francisco, California. The couple subsequently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and began raising a family.
In 1992, after 35 years of service with United, Marvin retired. In 1993, he and Nancy moved to Elizabeth, Colorado. From there the two enjoyed travels together throughout Europe, Canada and the United States – including a stint as motor home drivers for a nationally syndicated television program titled “On the Road Again with Keith Morrison.”
Marvin is survived by his brother Wesley Hall of Bakersfield, California; his sister Carol Leffew of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Frances Riley of Narrows, Virginia; his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Tom Feeney of Elizabeth, Colorado; his son and his son’s partner, Brad Hall and Bret Nighman of Santa Monica, California; his grandchildren Katie and Patrick Feeney of Elizabeth, Colorado; and many wonderful extended family and friends.
A memorial service was held on January 23, 2010 at the Cavalry Chapel Elizabeth in Elizabeth, Colorado.
